Top 10 Funding Opportunities:
Farming Innovation Programme: Small R&D Partnership Projects Rd 5
UK businesses can apply for funding to support small R&D partnership projects that will result in the development of solutions with the potential to improve overall productivity, sustainability, resilience and move existing agricultural sectors to net zero.
Trust and Confidence in Policing: Research and Innovation Consortium
Consortiums can apply for funding to develop and test dynamic tools and approaches to measure public trust and confidence in policing. Project leads must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding. Individuals from business, third sector or government body organisations can be included on applications as a project co-lead.
Engineering Biology Collaborative R&D: Round 3
This competition aims to deliver business-led research and development that will lead to new engineering biology products, processes or services and de-risk the adoption of new engineering biology technologies that offer high market potential.
SME Programme (October 2026)
This competition aims to support SMEs to develop innovative technology in line with the UK aerospace technology strategy, which can be exploited in the next five years. The primary application for technologies developed through this competition should be for the civil aerospace sector.
Engineering Biology Access to Infrastructure Pilot
This competition aims to support projects that enable scaling of lab proven engineering biology innovations by enabling SMEs to scale innovations to pilot or demonstration scale.
2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards – Abatement of Methane in Diffuse Emission Streams
This call for proposals aims to support R&D projects that target breakthroughs in our understanding of the fundamental science underlying mitigation strategies, or in their ability to be implemented in the real world. This research area prioritises benchtop validation of novel photochemical, photocatalytic or thermocatalytic systems under representative operational conditions, addressing real-world challenges including in quantum yield, mass-transfer, and/or catalyst deactivation.
2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards – Improve Constraints on Methane Lifetime in the Atmosphere and its Underlying Removal Mechanisms
This call for proposals aims to support R&D projects that target breakthroughs in our understanding of the fundamental science underlying mitigation strategies, or in their ability to be implemented in the real world. This research area aims to improve constraints on the lifetime of methane in the atmosphere and the underlying removal mechanisms.
2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards – Environmental and Ecological Impacts of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement
This call for proposals aims to support R&D projects that target breakthroughs in our understanding of the fundamental science underlying mitigation strategies, or in their ability to be implemented in the real world. This research area targets an expansion of the evidence for the impacts and co-benefits of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement, with an emphasis on well-designed field trials over additional standalone mesocosm studies.
2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards – Unlocking Underutilized Biomass Feedstocks to Scale Biochar Carbon Removal
This call for proposals aims to support R&D projects that target breakthroughs in our understanding of the fundamental science underlying mitigation strategies, or in their ability to be implemented in the real world. This research area prioritises the innovations required to scale the use of underutilized feedstocks in biochar production.
2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards – Addressing the Energetic Challenges of Low-Concentration CO2 Capture
This call for proposals aims to support R&D projects that target breakthroughs in our understanding of the fundamental science underlying mitigation strategies, or in their ability to be implemented in the real world. This research area targets the development and testing of novel technologies with the potential to fundamentally alter capture energetics at low or atmospheric concentrations.
