We attended a great event hosted by a grant consultant Mick Merrick based in Hereford last week. It brought together local businesses who have already been awarded grant funding (UKSPF being the main one) but opened their eyes to wider sources of funds. Monika Dabrowska from Innovaction Global covered schemes such as Innovate UK and EU Horizon funding which are often seen as out of reach by many businesses. Understanding the mechanics of these schemes and their context was helpful and hopefully more applications will come as a result.
With UKSPF funds now earmarked for 2025 it was good to further widen the grants net by showing the audience the latest version of getbusinessgrants.com with our new grant profile builder. Some positive feedback and good to see some attendees building their profiles after the event. We will be putting together a package for them to get further discounted access shortly.
It was also good to see the local Growth Hub there to offer wider support and guidance as well. This event format is something we will look to replicate in other regions as it offers practical help and covers all the bases in terms of schemes and support for applications. Without this support and expertise I wonder how many of the businesses that attended would have been aware of grant schemes, been able to choose the right ones and write a successful application.
