There have been a few changes in the grant funding environment in the UK recently. Nothing on the scale of those seen in the US, but still they present a challenge for grant consultants and businesses alike. Change is a constant theme – take the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) which by and large disappeared, being transitioned over into local authorities in 2024. Then a change in government which signposted specific areas of the economy, such as green tech, that would see increased funding and support. Added to that the uncertainty around UKSPF grants being offered in 2025 (it has recently been announced that they will be) and the ongoing lack of clarity on 2025 Innovate UK Smart grants. This uncertainty and change is not helpful to many businesses who rely heavily on grants and in some cases have built businesses around them. However it is reassuring to know that since we built GBG, the total amount of grant funding available always tracks between £3bn and £3.5bn, it’s just the schemes and providers that change. There will be more changes throughout 2025 there is no doubt but we will make sure you are aware of them all!

This would enable both business owners and the grants community alike to be able to adapt to changes in grant scheme availability. By making it easier to see what schemes are new and adjust your approach is an invaluable asset when planning ahead. We are always pleased when we can show someone an alternative grant scheme that may not have been known or considered in the past. Even those with a detailed knowledge of the grant world can’t possibly be aware of the circa 1,200 providers and 3,000 plus schemes that are live at any point in time. Even when you have a specific set of grants that you are interested in, it’s a time-consuming task keeping tabs on them so again having a resource that does this for you is a great time saver as well as ensuring you don’t miss valuable opportunities.
