This week, the UK government and other funding providers have unveiled a range of business grants and funding opportunities, including investment funding in Wales to support for Freeport East businesses, grants for energy efficiency initiatives and the latest UK Shared Prosperity Fund offering. Here are some examples of the latest featured UK grants:

Section 1: Investment Funding for Wales

Wales is set to benefit from a significant boost in investment funding with two new schemes launched by FW Capital and Foresight Group backed by the British Business Bank.

i) Investment Fund for Wales – Debt Finance: FW Capital provides debt finance of up to £2 million for businesses in Wales seeking to invest in growth, innovation, or expansion opportunities. Eligibility criteria include being a trading business with a minimum turnover of £500,000 and a positive track record.

ii) Investment Fund for Wales – Equity Investments: Foresight Group is offering equity investments of up to £5 million to innovative and high-growth businesses in Wales. Eligibility criteria include having a minimum turnover of £50,000 and demonstrating a strong potential for growth.

Section 2: Freeport East Funding

Freeport East, a designated economic zone in the Thames Estuary region, has launched two funding schemes to support businesses in the area.

i) Clean Growth Fund: Freeport East provides grants of up to £50,000 for businesses in the Thames Estuary region that are developing or implementing carbon reduction, energy efficiency, or waste reduction projects.

ii) Innovation and Skills Fund: Freeport East has grants available worth up to £20,000 for businesses in the Thames Estuary region that are developing new products, processes, or services or upskilling their workforce.

Section 3: UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Invest in North Lincolnshire is administering a number of grants from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support businesses in the area.

i) UKSPF Energy Audit Voucher Scheme: Invest in North Lincolnshire administers vouchers worth up to £1,000 to businesses in the local region to cover the cost of energy audits.

ii) UKSPF Export Support Grant: Invest in North Lincolnshire provides grants of up to £2,500 to businesses in the local area to support their export activities, including market research, trade missions, and marketing materials.

iii) UKSPF Apprenticeship Grant: This Invest in North Lincolnshire grant has funding of up to £1,000 to businesses in the region to support the recruitment and training of apprentices.

Section 4: Energy Efficiency Grants

There are two grants available to support businesses with energy efficiency activities:

i) Energy Efficiency Grant:  The Highland Council provides funding of up to £15,000 in grants to businesses in the Highlands for energy-saving measures such as insulation, lighting upgrades, and renewable energy installations.

ii) Energy Efficient Technologies in High Performance Computing: The European Commission grant as part of the Horizon programme supports the development and deployment of energy-efficient technologies for high performance computing (HPC) systems in collaboration with other innovative businesses and research organisations across Europe. UK businesses are invited to apply as part of the associated country route.
