This week’s grant deadline blog covers schemes for starting a business, business innovation, business growth and buildings and renovation activities. Businesses can take time to review the documentation and application procedures for each scheme before deciding to apply. This blog provides examples of upcoming deadlines for the middle of May 2024.
1. Starting a Business
Starting a business funding covers essential seed money for getting a new business venture off the ground, such as working capital, purchasing key equipment, marketing costs and creating a viable business plan. Here’s some examples of upcoming deadlines for May.
i) Test Market Grants by Hull City Council: This scheme provides financial assistance to help cover costs like rent, marketing, and equipment for businesses looking to test the viability of their new idea in Hull. Maximum funding is £500. Application deadline is 17th May 2024.
2. Business Innovation
Business innovation funding covers research and development project activities across various science, industry and creative sectors, here’s some examples of upcoming deadlines for the middle of May.
i) Discovery and Impact Feature Funding by British Film Institute: Filmmakers working on a feature film project may be eligible for support for original live action and animation feature filmmaking if they are a first time director. Maximum funding is £1 million. Application deadline is 21st May 2024.
ii) Unlocking Space for Business Programme (May 2024) by UK Space Agency: Businesses looking to utilise space-based data or technology to solve problems can apply to get funding for satellite and logistics related partner projects. Maximum funding is £400,000. Application deadline is 22nd May 2024.
iii) AUKUS Electronic Warfare Challenge by Defence and Security Accelerator: This scheme is for businesses that specialise in developing innovative electronic warfare solutions and includes funding opportunities relating to electromagnetic targeting. Application deadline is 16th May 2024.
3. Business Growth
Business growth funding covers the cost of business development activities such as launching new products or services, marketing costs and growth planning. Here’s some examples of upcoming deadlines for May.
i) PPL Momentum Music Fund (May 2024) by PPL: This scheme supports music artists and bands as they progress in their careers, offering a potential source of funding. Maximum funding is £15,000. Application deadline is 20th May 2024.
ii) Rural England Prosperity Fund – Development and Promotion of the Visitor Economy (May 2024) – Business Growth by Bedford Borough Council: Businesses within the rural tourism sector may benefit from funding that aims to enhance the visitor economy, including the development of new projects and services. Maximum funding is £5,000. Application deadline is 22nd May 2024.
4. Buildings and Renovation
Buildings and renovation funding covers commercial and domestic building expansion projects, building refurbishment, new builds and shop front improvements. Here’s some examples of upcoming deadlines for May.
i) Growing Innovation Capital Grant Scheme (May 2024) – Building Acquisition and Renovation by South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership: Businesses in the South East Midlands that are expanding or relocating may find support for building renovations or acquisitions through this grant scheme. Maximum funding is £300,000. Application deadline is 17th May 2024.
ii) Farming in Protected Landscapes Grants (May 2024) – Small Grants – Building Acquisition and Renovation by Dartmoor National Park: Farms operating within Dartmoor National Park may be eligible for grants that support building projects focused on landscape preservation and enhancement. Maximum funding is £5,000. Application deadline is 21st May 2024.
